A ski area 25 minutes outside of Reykjavík has been converted into the Skálafell Bike Park for the seventh summer in a row, mbl.is reports. Operations Manager Bob Maarten Van Duin says that the trails are ready for mountain biking, but they are waiting for better weather to officially open to the public.

“We’ve been working with [Icebike Adventures founder] Magne Kvam to put in new trails,” said Bob, explaining that they have also worked with the company Pukinn to create a new road bike track. Pukinn will operate a bike rental shop on site at the bike park all summer.

Once it opens, the park will have regular hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Saturday hours have also been posted on the park’s Facebook page—interested visitors are encouraged to call 530-3000 to confirm. Guests can purchase a ticket for a single ride for ISK 1,000 [$9; €8] or a day pass for ISK 2,500 [[$23; €20].

“Guests take the chair lift to the top of the mountain,” explained Bob. “This isn’t just for experienced mountain bikers—there are trails for everyone. We recommend that hikers and families take lift up, enjoy the view, and then walk down.”
