Icelandair will begin flying to San Francisco this spring, reports mbl.is. This brings the total number of North American destinations served by the airline to 23.
Starting on June 1 and continuing through October, flights to San Francisco will be offered four times a week. The Northern Californian city is one of six new destinations that will be added to the Icelandair schedule in 2018, which include Cleveland, Dallas, Kansas City, and Baltimore in the US, as well as Dublin, Ireland.
Icelandair CEO Björgólfur Jóhannsson says that these new destinations underscore the great bredth of the airline’s route network and service.
“San Francisco opens up a new way into the huge California market on the West Coast, and flights to the Baltimore airport strengthen our position in the Washington-Baltimore area on the East Coast. Kansas City, a large city in the middle of the United States, then opens a previously closed market for Icelandic tourism and connecting flights to and from Europe,” he explained.
